The Harlem Insiders Podcast is all about sharing all sorts of things. From sentimental stories to off the wall topics. Join your hosts Serafin (Junior) Gallardo (11) and your co-host Antonio (Anthony) Aguilera (12) on a podcast that’s made for your entertainment and for their passion.
Junior, the host/ main producer of the whole podcast came up with the idea from wanting to share his ideas with the world but also to show the students here that your peers around you are more than just a random person and that they have a story beyond their face.
“We hope that the people that do view it at least enjoy it and that they kind of see similar to what we see, maybe not, the whole point was to share our opinions, it’s just the people on the podcast’s point of views and our opinions on things, you don’t have to relate to it or agree with us,” Junior states.
Each episode is typically around an hour long and is released every couple weeks. The podcast was started later than they had wished but hope that it can go on to achieve greater things.
Aguilera, being the co-producer and main editor, sees more of the mistakes than anyone else in and outside of the podcast, which allows him to understand what is going wrong so he knows what to change when setting up for the next episode.
“Behind the scenes can get really difficult and at times it can get pretty frustrating, nothing will ever go the way you want it to, you’re always going to have a buffer in everything you do,” Aguilera states.
There are currently five segments that are shuffled throughout each episode with each episode having four segments each. Those five segments consist of “Huskie Hotline,” “Discussion Diner,” “Would You Rather,” “Gabriel’s Court,” and “Song Of The Day.” “Huskie Hotline” is an anonymous segment where students can ask questions and the crew answers their questions for advice; in “Discussion Diner” they try new foods while answering each other’s questions about the school; “Gabriel’s Court” is a segment where Gabriel Gonzalez (10) is a judge and Junior and Antonio are clients with two special guests that are defending their “cases;” and “Song of the Day” rotates through the four members as they pick a song to start the episode and explain why they chose that song for the podcast.
