On December 12, 2024 LINK Crew hosted their annual Cocoa and Cram to help Harlem students prepare for the end of the first semester. Tables had red tablecloths with festive holiday decorations like snowflakes and gingerbread men. Snacks of cookies, granola bars, and hot chocolate was provided to help motivate students while studying for semester finals.
Christmas music played during the event like ‘All I want for Christmas is You’ by Mariah Carey to help everyone get into the holiday spirit. Vice President of Link Crew, Hector Gonzalez (12) worked the snack table.
“As the vice president of LINK Crew, Cocoa and cram went really well. It was a calm environment,” said Hector Gonzalez (12).
The Commons were split up into four sections: English and Science on the west side of the commons, and on the East end was Math and Social Studies. “…Doing it with less people and less worries very relieving.” Hector Gonzalez (12) said.
Some teachers also went to Cocoa and cram as well, like Mrs. Albano and Mr. Sweet, to help the students with subjects the LINK Crew members couldn’t. The LINK Crew had about 20 students walking around and helping with their homework and preparing for their finals. Most of the people that attended the event over the subjects that they needed help for.
Near the end of the event the people handing out snacks and hot chocolate started to walk around and clean up the stations. The LINK Crew helped each other on the clean up. There were a couple spills that happened during the event and there were napkins to clean up the messes. Cocoa and Cram was an overall for this semester. LINK Crew will continue to host events throughout the school year to continue to help and support the students of Harlem High School.
