On December 7th, 2024 Redeemer Church hosted a Christmas market to give back to communities from all around the world. They gathered companies to meet in the gymnasium at Redeemer Church. A few of those companies consisted of: First Love International, SORA, Ornaments for Orphans, Haiti Made, Heart Change Ministries, and GOEX. Each company has their own mission for what they’re trying to accomplish with their sales.
To start, SORA’s mission is to empower talented women by providing markets for them to show off their hand woven projects so they’re able to make a sustainable income for their families. They’ve been based in Plainfield, Illinois since 2015. They would use single-use beverage wrappers such as coffee, cocoa, and tea from wherever they could find them.
Another company to mention is Haiti Made. They’re built around making an effort to eliminate poverty in Haiti by producing quality products, dignified jobs, and economic sustainability. GOEX is a verified member of the Fair Trade Federation, Fair Labor Association, Social Enterprise Alliance, and Social Enterprise World Forum. They mass produce apparel that isn’t only comfortable but also better for the planet.
One more mentionable company is Ornaments for Orphans. They’re a business selling handmade products made by artisans from Kenya, Uganda, Peru, and Nepal. All the money made from sales for Ornaments for Orphans is invested back into their headquarters. Ornaments for Orphans’ main mission is to prevent children from becoming orphans so they can stay with their families, but also provide jobs, fight poverty, and encourage sustainability.
Redeemer has worked hard to prepare for this event and it was such a blessing that they were able to host it without having difficulties.
